Slider Windows
Sliding windows for your home
Slider windows (also known as glider windows or rolling windows) are sold in a variety of styles. Unlike double-hung windows, which open up and down, slider windows open horizontally. Slider windows are typically made of two panes of glass – one that remains stationary and one the slides side to side, opening the window to the elements.
Advantages of slider windows
Slider windows are a great choice for areas where a window can't open in or out without getting in the way. For example, windows that swing outwards aren't a great option for decks or porches, as they would bump into chairs or other furniture. Sliding windows are very efficient in terms of the space they occupy, yet they can provide homes with the same amount of fresh air as swinging windows.
As double-hung windows get old, they can lose their ability to stay open. This will never happen with slider windows, as gravity has no effect on them. Because of this, slider windows are easier for most people (especially those with disabilities) to operate.
Additionally, many slider windows have the advantage of being easily lifted out of their tracks, which makes cleaning them very easy.
