Energy Saver Light Bulbs
There are quite a few light bulbs on the market that are designed to save you money and energy. Bulbs give off heat as well as light so they can also affect your cooling and heating systems. As much as 90 % of energy going to incandescent light bulbs can be wasted on producing heat. Light bulbs are rated in watts; which is a measure of the power they consume. However wattage doesn't really tell you how much light is produced; lumens tell you that. Lumens per watt basically measure a bulb's efficiency much like miles per gallon does in a car. Different types of light bulbs are different in efficiency. Incandescent bulbs produce about 17 to 23 lumens per watt. Fluorescent bulbs average about 67 to 83 lumens per watt. This gives the bulb a longer life and saves you money and energy. High efficiency bulbs basically give you the most brightness, at the same or lower wattage as other bulbs. These bulbs come in various shapes, sizes, styles, wattage, voltage and colors.
