Kitchen Sinks
Sinks come in single or double-basin configurations. Single sinks typically offer one wide, deep basin; while double sinks offer two smaller basins - one for preparation and another for clean-up. Sinks typically come in self-rimming, under-mounted, flush-mounted and molded designs. Self-rimming sinks are most-seen in kitchens because they are the easiest to install. Self-rimming sinks can be inserted into almost any countertop, with the rim resting on the counter's perimeter. Under-mounted sinks are placed entirely underneath the countertop for a more sleek appearance. However installation is difficult because faucets rise through the countertop and mount to the sink underneath. Flush-mounted sinks are installed flush with the countertop. Flush-mounting is most used with tile counters and grouting is required between the tiles and sink. Molded sinks are fabricated in one piece with countertops. Sinks are sold separately starting at about $500 online. With faucets, fixtures and accessories sinks can cost well over $1,500 online.
