Pre-Finished Hardwood Flooring
There are basically two types of hardwood flooring, pre finished and unfinished. Pre-finished hardwood flooring means the wood finishing is taken care of by the manufacturer; while unfinished means it hasn't been coated. Floor manufacturers use sophisticated methods to apply hard, durable, urethane based finishes quickly at the factory. Pre-finished hardwood planks have several coats of urethane applied to them by ultra violet light. This process only takes a few minutes and it helps to keep the price down and the wood easier to maintain. Pre-finished hardwood flooring is easy to clean with a broom or special mop head. Manufacturers have now started to add small aluminum oxide chops to the wood's finish. This is aimed at increasing the life of the urethane finish. Most wood flooring comes in pre-finished versions and it is available in various woods, styles, colors, designs and sizes.
