Oak Flooring
Oak is one of the most popular types of hardwood flooring as it is a precision-made product of enduring and natural beauty. Oak flooring is available in parquet, slat and plank types. Different colored strips or planks can be woven into the floor to give it a unique appearance. Oak flooring suits just about any living area and matches any type of architecture. It radiates warmth and hospitality. However, the appearance and performance of any oak floor ultimately depends on the installer, so make sure to get professional help if you are unsure how to install it. Oak flooring is made from wood that has been kiln-dried. You need to maintain its moisture level so don't expose oak flooring to the rain, snow or extreme humid conditions. If it is foggy or damp, make sure you cover your oak flooring with a tarpaulin. Kiln-dried lumber needs to be stored in a well-ventilated, enclosed building. Continuous dry heat may actually over-dry oak flooring and it could result in buckled floors later on. Oak flooring also comes in different sizes, finishes and designs. It averages about $5 per square foot online.
