Floor Coverings
Many homeowners are unaware that the look of a room can be drastically changed by what's under foot. In fact, the floor covering you choose can drastically change the look and feel of a room. For example, small rooms with fixed furnishings - such as a kitchen island or bar - should never feature a large-patterned carpet for fear of dividing the room. But a solid carpet or a carpet with a small pattern will draw the room and its furnishings together. Regardless of the floor covering you choose be sure to choose one that either compliments or contrasts with your furniture, window coverings and wood accents. For example a vivid red carpet contrasts nicely with black cabinetry. If you choose a light carpet you must be committed to keeping it clean - especially if you have kids and pets.
