Drywall
Drywall, also called gypsum board, is a paper covered panel of compressed gypsum used as a wall covering in interior home construction to resemble plaster walls or support other wall coverings such as wallpaper, paint or stucco. Drywall is basically made of a crumbly fire resistant substance called gypsum which is wrapped in a thick paper coating. The crumbly nature of gypsum also makes it durable, easy to cut through, saw through, drill through, screw through and paint or wallpaper over. Drywall can be used to cover conventional stud walls or plaster walls. Drywall is easy to work with and fairly inexpensive. Drywall can typically found at most hardware stores in ¾-inch, 3/8-inch, and ½-inch and 5/8-inch thicknesses. The most commonly size for drywall used in interior home construction 3/8-inches thick.
