Radiant heat is a method of heating that generates warmth through radiation. Radiant heating is most commonly installed within a home's baseboards, but it can also be installed within a home's walls as well. Radiant heating conducts heat by circulating hot water, electricity or solar energy through thin metal fins and circulating the warm air throughout the room. Because there are no ducts or vents needed for radiant heating, they won't interfere with where you place your furniture. No ducts also means that forced air won't stir up dust, dirt and pet hair. In general, radiant heating is said to cost approximately 40% less to operate then other forced air home heating systems, however the cost of installing and running a radiant heating system will depend on how well your home is insulated.
