Weatherproofing
If you don't adequately weatherproof your house your heating and air conditioning costs may be astronomical. To stay warm and cool at appropriate times, you need to make ensure your doors and windows are properly sealed to your house and garage. There are various ways to weatherproof. You can use door sets which can be nailed around the sides and top of exterior doors to stop drafts and cushion the door to impacts. Door sets are ideal for older homes as they compensate for warped jambs and sagging doors. You can also stop or reduce drafts by using self-sticking weather-strip tapes made of foam or rubber. You can also nail or attach strips and gaskets made of felt, vinyl, rubber or metal around doorframes. Strips of weatherproofing materials only cost a few dollars; while thresholds can be purchased for less than $50 online. Window insulation kits are about $25 online.
