A sidelight is a glass pane insert that appears in one or both sides of a door. Sidelights are most often featured in front entry doors. They typically run horizontally alongside ½ of the door's frame or along its entirety. Sidelights allow residents to view who's knocking at the door. They also grant an airy feeling to entryways by letting more sunlight filter through. Sidelights come fixed to the door unit in various styles. For instance some have frosted glass patterns, stain glass details or glass sliders with mesh screens.
