Door chains can be installed on the interior of your entry doors for added security. Once installed, security chains allow you to open your front door about five-inches so that you can identify the visitor from a safe distance. Security chains help to protect the perimeter of your home when used in conjunction with deadbolts, peepholes and other security devices; however they don't supply enough protection on their own as most adults can kick them loose once a door is ajar.
