Door Frames
Door frames are responsible for enclosing doorways. They generally consist of a horizontal piece that runs along the top of the door called a header; a horizontal piece at that runs along the bottom of the door called a sill; the pieces that run vertically along each side called stiles; and the bead which is the piece that the door closes against that runs around the interior of the door frame. The most secure door frames are those that are part of the home's actual structure. Strike plates, which attach to the door frame and receive the latch when the door is closed, should be reinforced so that no air space remains between the door frame and door. Door frames start at approximately $50 online. The price depends on the sturdiness of the door frame.
