Bathroom plugs are often taken for granted - Especially when that long, relaxing soak in the Jacuzzi tub wouldn’t be possible without that little rubber stopper! Bathtub and sink plugs come in a variety of shapes, colors and sizes. Your typical drain stopper is made of a rubber material in a neutral color, such as black or beige. The problem with rubber stoppers is that with time they tend to dry out and crack easily, eventually needing to be trashed. The good news is that they are very cheap to replace. However if you’d prefer to avoid rubber stoppers then metal plugs are the way to go. Metallic plugs can be purchased in several quality finishes including antique gold, chrome and stainless steel. Metal plugs are mainly used for sink drains and come with a chain that attaches the plug to faucet fixture. Another option for sink plugs is of the pop-up variety - These drains open and close (pop up and down) with the push and pull of a lever. Whichever style you choose, be sure that the plug is fitted with a proper rubber seal to ensure a tight fit with the drain. You don’t want to be wasting unnecessary water due to an ill-fitting plug.
