There comes a time when those rusty, mildew covered bathtub taps need to be replaced. Nowadays you have many modern designs to choose from. You can either install a dual handle or single handle tap. With the former the tap features a separate handle for the hot and cold water. The latter has a single handle to control the water. Typically, the further you turn the single handle the hotter the water will get. Many new home builders are installing single handle taps because they supply a cleaner finish and are easier to operate. The handles are usually a knob type or of the lever variety. Another thing to consider is the material of the tap. Chrome, stainless steel, and brass bathtub taps are all popular types, but chrome fixtures generally have the most dramatic appearance. The style of tap you choose will depend on personal preferences and the decor of your bathroom. Most home owners prefer to match the bathtub taps with the sink fixtures; however you can also mix and match if you so desire. If you have a vintage style clawfoot tub then you can have some fun with the taps, such as installing two water spouts instead of one. Another new style is a contemporary swivel tap, which allows you to direct the water wherever you want.
